Month 2: Team-Building Online Workshop
Trust is the foundation of collaboration. In this interactive session, participants engage in virtual exercises that strengthen communication, empathy, and cooperation. It’s not just about forming a team, it’s about building a family united by the values of inclusion, respect, and solidarity.
Month 3: Community Peace Basketball Tournament
The heart of S.P.E.A.C.E. comes alive on the court. This flagship event brings young people, locals, and athletes together for a basketball tournament unlike any other, where fair play, unity, and mutual respect are the main goals. It’s an opportunity to showcase sports as a powerful tool for conflict resolution and community bonding.
Month 4: First Evaluation Webinar – Reflecting Together
We pause to listen. In this webinar, participants share feedback and experiences from the tournament and earlier activities. What worked? What could improve? This is a moment for collective reflection, open dialogue, and constructive planning.
Month 5: Midpoint Assessment – Looking Back, Moving Forward
With half the project behind us, it’s time for a thorough review. The team analyzes progress, identifies challenges, and reallocates resources where needed. This internal checkpoint ensures we stay on track while remaining adaptable and responsive.
Month 6: “Walking in Each Other’s Shoes” – Empathy in Action
This month is dedicated to empathy-building. Through storytelling, roleplay, and basketball-inspired scenarios, participants explore different perspectives and learn how understanding others is the first step to resolving conflict. It’s one of our most powerful sessions.
Month 7: “Jogging Around” – Strength in Movement
In this community-wide activity, we turn to another form of movement, jogging. Participants run side by side in a symbolic act of unity. It’s a reminder that health, wellness, and peace go hand in hand, and that small steps, literally, can bring big changes.
Month 8: Handbook Creation & Community Input
As we gather learnings and insights, we begin developing a practical S.P.E.A.C.E. Handbook, a toolkit for using sports in peacebuilding. During this stage, we engage the community to review our draft, offer suggestions, and ensure the final version reflects real needs and voices.
Month 9: Handbook Presentation – Sharing the Knowledge
We unveil the finalized handbook in a special webinar open to participants, educators, NGOs, and stakeholders. It includes methods, exercises, reflections, and practical tips that can be used by anyone wanting to replicate or expand our model.
Month 10: Sustainability Planning – Keeping the Peace Alive
This month focuses on how we can preserve the impact of S.P.E.A.C.E. Participants and partners brainstorm ways to keep using sports for peace in local schools, youth centers, and communities, beyond the project’s end.
Month 11: Reporting Webinar – Storytelling & Impact
The team gathers for a visual presentation of everything we’ve achieved, photos, testimonials, statistics, and key lessons. This isn’t just about wrapping up, it’s about capturing the essence of S.P.E.A.C.E. and making our story visible across platforms and partnerships.
Month 12: Final Webinar – The Future Starts Now
We close with an inspiring online event to present the results, celebrate our journey, and invite others to take up the baton. We don’t just share what happened, we share what’s possible. The webinar also offers tools for others to launch similar initiatives in their communities.
